LOOE itself is a wonderful place to explore with it's quaint fishermen's
cottages and winding narrow streets. Looe Beach is a safe sandy beach, a
wide expanse of flat sand, with some rocks at either side and backed with
the promenade. There
is a seating area to one side. On the other side Banjo Pier stretches out
into the sea and gives good shelter for sunbathers with some rock pools.
Fishing and boat trips are available in abundance including conger eel and shark fishing
There
are at least 5 quality GOLF courses within a 40-minute drive, including
the famous St Mellion (Jack Nicklaus Course).
Looe
Golf Club (18th hole photo on right) is only a 5 minute drive. We have a set of clubs, if you
don't want to bring yours.
Tennis and bowls are both available locally in West Looe. It is said that
Looe Tennis Club has the best view of any club in the country, looking out
over Looe Island and the sea.
Scuba diving for beginners and experienced divers is available from nearby 'Looe
Diving School.' In 2004 an ex navy frigate, The Scilla was sunk
just off Looe. This provides an excellent dive site
There is plenty of walking, both spectacular coastal walks and calming country
woodland walks.
Looe itself has
many shops, to many to mention them all, but whilst you are
walking around Looe and looking for a unique gift, then keep an eye out
for Clive's Cats, you can't miss it - near to the Quay. Clive is
an artist who has created his own unique brand of cartoon cats.
The cats can be seen adorning walls throughout Looe, The Bullers
arms pub has a few.
Clive has his own web site, where you can also buy on line

Wandering further a field we recommend.....
Polperro
The picture postcard fishing village of Polperro with it's lovely harbour,
tiny lanes and whitewashed cottages is only a 10 minute car ride away or
alternatively about a 2 1/2 hour walk along the coastal path with it's dramatic
scenery.
Plymouth
With its famous Hoe is a 40 minute drive away, the popular National
Maritime Aquarium makes an interesting day out, set close to the harbour
bursting with yachts. There are plenty of shops as well if you fancy some
shopping. If you don't fancy driving you can take the train from Looe.
Alternately, one of the most interesting ways of getting to Plymouth is by
boat. The ferry runs from Kingsand to The Barbican in Plymouth.
Truro
Is only one hour away where you can enjoy shopping and of course visit
it's famous cathedral.
Inland you can find Bodmin Moor and Dartmoor, fantastic for walking and
where you'll enjoy dramatic scenery.
But you'll have to drive slow as you weave your way through the wild
Dartmoor ponies and sheep. A drive to the north coast will only take you 1/2
an hour, enjoy surfing at Polzeath and Newquay or nip across to Padstow and
indulge yourself at Rick Stein's
famous restaurant. Explore
the more historical Tintagel, visit King Arthur's seat and notice how different
the scenery is between the North and South coast.
